What does a check tell you?
Read what people experienced, understand the number’s range and check the costs before returning a call. A number’s allocation is separate from the identity of the person calling.
A prefix does not identify the person calling or prove a call is genuine. These are UK domestic calling principles, not a quote for your phone plan.
Geographic numbers
Linked to an area code. The code does not reveal where the caller is now. Check your calling plan.
UK-wide numbers
Calls cost no more than calls to 01 and 02 numbers.
Mobile and other services
Most are mobiles. 070 is personal numbering, with different charges. Check the full prefix.
Freephone
Free from consumer UK landlines and mobiles. Business-phone users should check with their provider.
Service numbers
An access charge and a service charge apply. Check both before calling.
Premium-rate services
Higher charges may apply. Check the service price and your provider’s access charge.
