Usually you can find out a lot. Paste the number into the box at the top of this page and you see what kind of line it is, which phone company Ofcom gave its range to, and what other people reported about calls from it. A private person is never named.
Is this phone number lookup free?
Yes. Every lookup is free, with no login and no sign-up. Adverts pay for the site.
Can you tell me who owns a mobile number?
Not if it belongs to a private person. There is no public directory of UK mobile numbers, and a name linked to a number is personal data under UK GDPR, so we never show one and no payment unlocks one.
What does “reported by” mean on a number?
It is how many different people told us they got a call from that number, counted once per person. A report is that person’s account of the call, not a verdict on the number, and a number with no reports has usually just never been reported.
What if the number was withheld or private?
Then there is no number to look up. On a BT landline, 1471 tells you the last number that called you, unless the caller withheld it.
