UK NON-GEOGRAPHIC NUMBERING

056
Internet phone (VoIP)

An internet phone (VoIP) number with no place attached. It can be answered anywhere in the world.

The first digits do not identify or locate the caller. Numbers may be used remotely, and caller ID may be spoofed.

What does calling cost?

Charged at a rate set by your provider. Check your tariff: these are not always inside call allowances.

Check the full number.

Before returning a call

Check whether you expected the contact and whether the caller left a useful message. Verify unexpected claims through an independently trusted contact route. The number type alone does not establish who called.
